UCM 2.0 released

Friday, March 9, 2012

The new version of UCM provides two new modules:

Dashboard
The dashboard allows you to manage your own profile.
If you are using a Google Apps account your profile will be linked to your Google Apps profile.
Every user in your domain can keep the personal info up to date.
The updated info will be available in the domain users tab immediately and will also show up in the GMail Directory.

UCM Contacts
The new UCM contacts tab enables you to store an unlimited number of contacts.
These contacts will only be visible in UCM - they are not synced with any other system.
You can copy contacts from any other tab to the UCM tab to create a single consolidated list of contacts.
This is especially useful if you want to send out newsletters to a large number of contacts.

Today we released an experimental feature that allows you to create organization charts in UCM.
We have built this feature using the great PlayN framework that has also been used for the Chrome version of Angry Birds.
You can create an organization chart for each of your contact groups.
If you for example created a contact group containing the members of a team or a company you are dealing with, you can now organize these contacts in a chart by simply dragging them to the org chart panel.
Drag contacts on the appropriate manager to create the desired structure within seconds.
You can toggle the layout by right-clicking on a manager and selecting the desired layout for his team members.
If you right-click on an empty area in the chart, you can re-layout the chart using different layout algorithms.

This feature is still under development, feedback is always welcome!
