We have added new search capabilities to the groups filter:
Now you can select multiple groups and switch between three different modes:
  1. Select contacts that are member of ANY of the selected groups
  2. Select contacts that are member of ALL selected groups
  3. Select contacts that are member of NONE of the selected groups
If you want to find all contacts that are not member of any group, just select all groups and click on the NONE mode.

Is it possible to change the column headers so that other information can be displayed and sorted?

I personally have no use for an "Organization" column, and while the "Modified Date" could be useful for detectives, I don't change my data often enough to justify devoting an entire column-width to it.

I am hopeful this project will succeed because it's the closest I've seen to what really would be a "universal" contact manager.

Good luck! And if there is a place that explains how to change the column headers, I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction to find it.
